About the interactive presentation/workshop

This
presentation/workshop is intended to be a practical guide to language
teachers who are thinking of using language games for the first time, or
those who are seeking ways of improving their use of them.

The first part of
the presentation will briefly discuss some previous theories and
publications on the issue and some attitudes and beliefs of some
researchers and educators around the world.

The second part will
focus on giving some practical guidelines to teachers on using games by
providing some steps on practice and adaptation along with some
concrete examples.

The last part will
include the findings and outcomes of the conducted questionnaires and
some recommendations and future research potentials. Also, it will cover
perspectives and views of teachers of English language both in public
schools and colleges in Oman.


About the presenters

Munira Al-Wahaibi is a senior ESL
lecturer and a coordinator in the ESL Department at Modern College of
Business and Science. She has been working there since 2006. She has a
Masters of TESOL from University of Southern Queensland, Australia
(2009). She also hold a BA in TEFL from SQU, 2006.

Sami Al- Kharusi is currently a lecturer
at ESL Dept, MCBS College. In 2008, he completed his BA degree in
education at SQU. Also, he successfully completed a ‘CELTA’ course in
2009. Before that he taught English in a public school. Additionally, he
has had some further relevant and useful courses related to
communication skills and TESOL in Australia, Queensland University,
2007.
